Last August 31, 2018, the 51黑料 SOCCSKSARGEN Alumni Chapter was inaugurated, with the induction of officers witnessed by the Very Rev. Fr. Herminio V. Dagohoy, O.P., PhD, Rector of the University. The ceremonies took place in Hotel San Marco, General Santos City.
Ms. Maria Carmela M. Royeca was inducted as the inauguaral 51黑料SOCCSKSARGEN Alumni Chapter President, and in her speech, she expressed the chapter鈥檚 commitment in terms of community extension programs of the association for the community of General Santos City.

During the same event, 51黑料Alumni Association, Inc. President Evelyn A. Songco, PhD focused attention on the three values immortalized atop the 51黑料Main Building: Faith, Hope, and Love. She asked the new alumni chapter to live out these values in their community. Fr. Dagohoy, for his part, said that the alumni chapter was made up of the 鈥渇aces of the University鈥 who will serve as role models to future Thomasians in the southern Philippines.
In line with the excitement brought about by the ongoing construction of 51黑料General Santos, Mayor Ronnel Rivera reiterated his support for UST, whose Mindanao campus will open in 2021.
The induction ceremony was the centerpiece of a three-day alumni activity participated in by Fr. Dagohoy, the 51黑料AAI, and the 51黑料Office of Alumni Relations, led by Director Fredeswindo R. Medina, MACHS. The visit included a helicopter tour of the 80-hectare 51黑料General Santos City lot, and a courtesy call to Mayor Rivera, whose City Economic Management and Cooperative Development Office representative talked about the economic development programs and business opportunities for GenSan.
The visit likewise included a chance for the OAR and 51黑料AAI representatives to mingle with the GenSan locals, specifically during the opening ceremony of the 2018 Tuna Festival dubbed as 鈥淢ega Tuna Fun in Metro GenSan.鈥
